Slovenia includes the federal states of Vienna, Tyrol and Vorarlberg on the red list. Travelers from these regions must first quarantine for 10 days.

After several other European countries, Slovenia has now added the federal states of Vienna, Tirol and Vorarlberg to its entry red list due to the rapidly increasing number of coronavirus infections in Austria. The Ljubljana government decided on Sunday night. The travel warning applies as of Tuesday, he said.

Quarantine after entering Slovenia

Then, a ten-day quarantine must be initiated after entry or a negative Covid-19 test must be presented.

The exceptions

The exceptions apply to travelers, schoolchildren and freight transport, among others. Special cases are also urgent personal or business trips, so the return must be made within 48 hours. Transit through Slovenia is unconditional within twelve hours. In the case of neighboring countries, exceptions also apply to owners or tenants of real estate on the Slovenian side and to farmers working their land on the other side of the border. Harvest workers helping Slovenian citizens or people residing in Slovenia with seasonal jobs in the neighboring country can return within 24 hours without any restrictions.

Rest of Austria on the “Orange List”

The Ljubljana government included the rest of Austria in the so-called “orange list”. From these countries, travelers can enter Slovenia without restrictions and quarantine, the Interior Ministry confirmed to the APA.

In addition to Austria, Slovenia has also moved Italy and Hungary from the green list to the “orange list”. Italy as a whole falls into this category, while parts of Hungary as well as Vienna, Tyrol and Vorarlberg are on the “red list.” Parts of Croatia, including Istria, are moving from the “red list” to the “orange list”. Meanwhile, Serbia is on the “green list”. Slovenia based its ranking on the recommendations of the EU Commission and the German Robert Koch Institute, as Slovenian Interior Minister Ales Hojs explained at a press conference on Monday.

Germany and Belgium travel warning

Germany and Belgium have already issued a rice warning against Vienna, Vorarlberg and Tirol. In addition to Vienna, Switzerland also included Lower Austria and Upper Austria on its “red list”. There are also restrictions on entering the Netherlands from Vienna and Innsbruck.
