Due to the increasing number of corona, Slovakia and the Czech Republic have decided to declare a state of emergency again.
In relation to the latest coronavirus numbers, Slovakia will again declare a state of emergency. According to Prime Minister Igor Matovic, this will initially apply for 45 days from Thursday.
The desire to travel on All Saints’ Day is crucial
According to the conservative head of government, the development will depend on the desire of Slovaks to travel to All Saints’ Day, he shared on Facebook. Then you will see if you can return to normality: “It depends on all of us,” he emphasized.
According to the Slovak news agency TASR, the government has accepted the prime minister’s proposal announced two days earlier after a last meeting of the crisis team “with objections”.
In the corresponding resolution of the Emergency Law, the members of the cabinet were obliged to “adopt all the measures that allow the emergency to be lifted in the shortest possible time.”
An emergency was already imposed in March
With the first wave in March, Slovakia declared a state of emergency, which lasted for 90 days. The state of emergency makes it possible to restrict certain rights and freedoms of citizens, for example the freedom of assembly and movement, and also to impose an exit ban.
30-day emergency in the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic also did the same. According to the Minister of Health, Roman Prymula, the state of emergency, which will take effect on October 5, should last 30 days. The goal is to take some measures at the national level to contain infections. No border or business closures or restrictions on freedom of movement are provided, as was the case in the spring emergency.
