In Bad Großpertholz, in the Gmünd district, a single-family house was badly damaged by fire on Saturday morning. According to Franz Resperger of the Lower Austrian fire brigade command, four adults and a small child escaped outside. One resident had to be hospitalized for burns. Nine fire brigades with 130 emergency services came out to put out the fire.

According to Resperger, a wooden barn in the town of Steinbach in the market town of Waldviertel caught fire from an initially unknown cause. The fire spread to the attached family home within minutes. When the first emergency services arrived, the roof structure and the upper floor of the property were already in the middle of fire.

The flames were fought in an extensive external and internal attack, which was also supported by a rotating ladder and various respiratory protection equipment. However, according to Resperger, the only thing that could be prevented was for the fire to spread to the ground floor of the house.
