As of January 1, wages in the social economy will rise 2.08 percent. In addition, it was agreed that the equality of manual workers with employees applies to notice periods starting on January 1.
Salaries at private, mostly nonprofit, social and health companies will increase by 2.08 percent as of January 1, 2021. This increase was basically agreed in the spring as part of a three-year agreement. At that time, an increase was determined for the 125,000 employees in the private welfare, health and social sector for 2021 at the level of the inflation rate plus 0.6 percentage points.
Adjustments apply as of January 1
Once the relevant inflation values were available, this was now set between Social Economy Austria (SWÖ) as representative of the employers and the GPA and life unions. In addition, it was agreed that the equality of manual workers with employees applies to notice periods starting on January 1.
“The increase this year is higher than that of other industries. The Crown crisis in particular has shown how important health and social sector employees are to society and what they do, so I am glad that we can honor this as well, ”said SWÖ President Erich Fenninger , on a broadcast Monday. GPA negotiator Eva Scherz emphasized that comparison with salary increases in other industries in this particular crisis situation shows that the three-year degree earlier this year was a clear advantage for employees. And life negotiator Michaela Guglberger described as a “major success” that workers in the future are no longer worse off with the adjustment of notice periods in the social economy.
