Infineon in Villach registered 1,500 employees for short-term jobs. The application for the Labor Market Service (AMS) has already been made, it said in a message from the group on Thursday. Short-term work begins May 1, 2020 and is initially slated to last two months.
Affected employees also include contract workers, Infineon Technologies Austria AG said. All involved employees would continue to receive a net monthly salary of 90 percent of their previous net earnings if they were 80 or 85 percent employees.
