Liensberger am Semmering as 14th best Austrian initially

Katharina Liensberger still has a chance of achieving a top ten result.

Slovak Petra Vlhova is on her way to victory after the first round of the Semmering Giant Slalom. She had an advantage of 0.22 seconds over the Italian Marta Bassino. Swiss Michelle Gisin is third, 0.35 seconds behind. Katharina Liensberger is the fourteenth best Austrian

Mikaela Shiffrin follows with a difference of 0.59 seconds in the fourth intermediate position. The American had recently won the Courchevel Giant Slalom. The two-time season winner Bassino and Vlhova were eliminated there.

Top ten for Liensberger within reach

The Austrian team is heading for a weak result in the home race. Katharina Liensberger was the best rider in ÖSV, 1.97 seconds behind, in 14th place, but the top ten are within reach. Katharina Truppe (2.20), Stephanie Brunner (2.24) and Franziska Gritsch (2.29) were ranked 17-19 before the decision, Ramona Siebenhofer (2.70) was 25th.

On Tuesday night, an illuminated slalom is scheduled in Semmering.
