On Wednesday, 3,719 people infected with Covid-19 had to be treated at the hospital. Of them, 3,185 were in normal wards, 129 more than on Tuesday, and 536 in intensive care units, 41 more than the day before.

A total of 172,380 people in Austria have tested positive since the start of the pandemic. This now corresponds to 1.93 percent of the population. 67,057 people were considered actively infected Wednesday.

31,571 test results were reported in the last 24 hours. On average, 28,909 tests were entered into EMS every day for the past seven days. About 23 percent of these were positive.

The highest value of new daily infections so far was reported on Saturday with 8,241. In the last 24 hours, most new cases were in Vienna (1,427), 1,396 in Upper Austria, 1,076 in Lower Austria and 869 in Styria. . Carinthia reported 886 new infections (including late reports), Salzburg 291 and Vorarlberg 272. From Burgenland, 194 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
