The Monday through Tuesday night is over for the moment: local museums, theaters, opera and concert halls, as well as cinemas, must close as of Tuesday; only libraries can remain open.

Due to the massive increase in Covid-19 cases in Austria, the federal government has now decided on a new package of measures to curb the number of infections. This means another massive cut in cultural and social life: the “blocking light” takes effect in Austria on November 3 at midnight.

Event ban
All events are initially completely banned until November 30. The museums have to close their doors throughout the month of November, only the parks and libraries remain open.

The following cultural and leisure facilities are prohibited from entering and must therefore close:

1. Attractions, amusement parks
2. Pools
3. Dance schools
4. Gambling shops and casinos
5. Show mines
6. Facilities for the practice of prostitution
7. Theaters and concert halls, cinemas, variety shows and cabarets
8. Indoor playgrounds and paintball facilities
10. Museums and museum railways
12. Animal parks and zoos.
The only exceptions are outdoor recreational facilities such as parks and libraries.
