After prayer in the city center with imams and other clerics, another event took place on Thursday with representatives of Islam and Judaism in connection with the terrorist attack in Vienna: on Morzinplatz, not far from the crime scene, representatives of Jewish students met with the Muslim youth of Austria. a rally that ended with a sea of lights. Bini Guttmann from the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) called on political leaders to fight Islamism “with the full force of the rule of law.” MJÖ’s Bouchra Ikherrazene spoke of an “attack by a person who was on the fringes of society” and at the same time said: “A terrorist will never define our society.”
Party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner spoke on behalf of the SPÖ at the commemorative event. “Terror is the cowardly attempt to make others small in order to feel bigger,” he said in his speech and: “We will not give an inch.” ÖP MEP Othmar Karas also appealed to hundreds of visitors to stand together, because hatred can and should never be stronger.

“Vienna has been hurt,” said the green deputy mayor of the federal capital, Birgit Hebein, and then declared: “Vienna strong, you will not sink. And it will always be so.” Freedom, solidarity, democracy and enlightenment are “promises of this city that we renew every day.” Christoph Wiederkehr, director of the NEOS club in the city, has just identified cohesion across religious boundaries and trust.
