Heavy duty Friday morning for the fire department in St. Pölten. An apartment caught fire and a boy sounded the alarm.
On Friday, the fire department of the city of St. Pölten was called to a fire in Maria-Theresia-Straße around 6:20 a.m. A huge plume of smoke could already be seen on arrival, and the chief of operations had to call in additional personnel.
When emergency services arrived, they found meter-high flames licking at the windows. The plume of smoke was visible from a great distance. The ladder began to be ventilated immediately to allow a safe evacuation. Then the fire was extinguished on two sides in extremely difficult conditions.
Three fire departments in action
As it turned out, after the operation, a schoolboy noticed the smoke and then alerted his mother, who set the rescue chain in motion. This prevented worse things from happening. Brave neighbors managed to save the owner of the burning apartment, who was then transported by ambulance service to the accident hospital in St. Pölten.
In addition to the St. Pölten-Stadt fire department, the St. Pölten-Wagram volunteer fire department and the St. Pölten-Spratzern volunteer fire department were also in action.
