The Vienna Film Prize, endowed with 6,000 euros for the best Austrian film, went to the essay documentary about Cuba “Epicenter”, by Hubert Sauper, whose “poetic and political-analytical character” was praised by the jury.
Sandra Wollner’s android dystopia “The problem of being born” was awarded the special jury prize (prize of 4000 euros). The audience award was won by a film that has not yet been distributed in Austria: the jury of readers chose the Mexican parable “Selva tragica” (“Tragic jungle”) by Yulene Olaizola.
