Salzburg Police Investigate Twelve Drug Dealers

After several months of investigations by police officers from the Salzburg-Umgebung drug group, a total of twelve drug dealers and 210 drug buyers were found in Salzburg and Upper Austria.

Nine “sub-distributors” in action

A 27-year-old North Macedonian was identified as the main culprit. It is said that he was responsible for the acquisition of large quantities of drugs. In addition to his 29-year-old Croatian partner, who allegedly supplied customers in neighboring Innviertel and the Bavarian border area, and his 23-year-old brother, there were nine other “sub-distributors” according to the police.

The youngest of the investigated drug traffickers was only 14 years old at the time of the crime. All nine had at least 20 clients each, police said in a broadcast Wednesday.

Lead perpetrator arrested in August

In the period from early 2018 to mid-August 2020, it was found that the main unemployed suspect sold a total of 50 kilograms of cannabis herb and 80 grams of cocaine. The main defendant, his partner and his brother were arrested in August 2020 for delivering more than 100 grams of cannabis to a 20-year-old “sub-dealer”.

In the course of subsequent raids of the apartment, a total of five kilos of cannabis herb, some 25,000 euros in cash, mobile phones, laptops, weapons and a wide range of narcotics were found and seized.

A 27-year-old man supplies drugs to “sub-distributors”

According to the police report, the 27-year-old North Macedonian had his fixed daily “work hours” from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. During this time he drove his car to various delivery locations in the city of Salzburg. The investigated customers are between 14 and 43 years old and bought quantities of two to 500 grams per delivery to the 27-year-old.

Everyone involved is shown

With the exception of the 27-year-old North Macedonian, who is still in detention, the other defendants are at large. Most confess, police report. The street sale value of the seized addictive substances is around 50,000 euros, the value of the drugs that have been found to have been sold is around 500,000 euros.
