Germany’s World Cup hero Mario Götze has a new club. The 28-year-old offensive player will go to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie. Götze signs a two-year contract there.
After his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired in July and was not extended, the German international was looking for a club. Clubs in the German Bundesliga were repeatedly cited as interested parties, but ultimately the race was won by the Dutch club.
At PSV, Götze will meet coach Roger Schmidt, who won the double with Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 and moved from there to Bayer Leverkusen. After an engagement in China, Schmidt has been Eindhoven’s manager since this season.
