Marcel Hirscher can still do it. The retired ski superstar from Austria recently demonstrated this with pole training, the video of which made headlines around the world on Instagram and generated high hopes among fans nationwide (read HERE >>>).
But: he no longer wants to. The 31-year-old makes it clear once again on “Sport and Talk” on “ServusTV.”
“I didn’t know they were picking it up this way. The idea was just to go skiing,” smiles the man from Salzburg in “Hangar-7”.
“There is no chance or desire either. Everything is saved and I can get it back. And still, I would not be happy to be on this bike day after day,” explains the eight-time World Cup winner.
“But it was great for me, feeling on the skis and the strength. That was close to the idea of what the sport has given me in the last 15 years,” says Hirscher. Old routines arrived and prepared in the weight room.
And he wants to do the quick turns more often: “A racing driver will also go to the circuit more often. Why shouldn’t he ride the bars from time to time?
The best sport is not good exercise for daily life
Being relaxed, that brought a lot of joy to Hirscher. “I have rediscovered my passion for skiing. I choose cold days when the weather is good.”
This also applies to other leisure activities, be it backcountry excursions or enduro rides with his friend and Dakar winner Matthias Walkner, according to whom Hirscher already shows a lot of talent on the bike.

It is the variety that drives the former dominator of the Ski World Cup. Also the contrast with the top sport, whose corset he had to wear for years.
“The fast pace and one hundred percent commitment as in top-notch sport is quite counterproductive on a day-to-day basis. Today it is a dream situation that I can organize the day however I want.”
Interesting observation about the Ski World Cup
This can also include a ski race on television, but it doesn’t have to be. “Today I was on a ski tour and I saw the result at home. I saw RTL in Alta Badia.”
Last season, the first without Marcel Hirscher as an active player, saw enough races to form an opinion: “In the end the best ones won, but I was in awe. Not about individual performances, but about some tactical errors or unusual failures. asked: How much have I contributed so that others can get even more out of themselves?
Hirscher also wants to see the races at the venue as soon as possible. “Probably not in the finish zone, because I’m more interested in what’s going on on the track.”
Especially since the cameras and reporters in the target area capture them more often. But when it comes to his public appearances, Hirscher seems to have found a measure for himself that he likes: “Maybe it’s an annual date. But it turned out to be nice for me. And I’m happy to be like that, wherever.” be allowed to go. “
