Reporting by lies – Gmünd district: first point of access after the wedding

The fact that the national figures for the Gmünder district, which were well below the average until a few days ago, is now screwed up in one fell swoop. District Captain Stefan Grusch is much more concerned about what is behind much of the newly confirmed CoV infections: “We were lied to about the contacts for a week. Valuable time has been taken to contain the spread of the virus! ”

“I don’t even have a complete visitor list”

Grusch speaks of a “big wedding party” – reportedly a Turkish wedding with several hundred participants on September 12 in Schrems – as a starting point for the first access point in the district. Significantly more than half of current illnesses can be attributed to it. The fact that this celebration existed only became evident to the district administration during the weekend because initially none of the infected had given a clue and the celebration had not been registered here either (indeed there was a contract with the municipality on the use of the living room).

“The processing of contacts is extremely laborious, we do not even have a complete list of visitors to the celebration. The language barrier also makes contact tracing difficult, “says Grusch:” Time passes when more contacts can be made and the virus can spread happily. The sooner we can isolate infected people and put contacts at risk, the better our chances. “

Waiting for more than a hundred test results

District Captain Grusch clearly announces the consequences of lying in the call to contacts: “I report anyone who has lied to us to the prosecutor. That is a common threat to the entire district. ” However, as a property owner, one has to think about such a large group celebrating in Corona times.

The results of more than a hundred tests ordered through the 1450 hotline are still pending; the number of positive results is very likely to continue to skyrocket. Currently, the authority asks more than 160 residents of the Gmünder district to self-quarantine in their homes.

Suspicious cases in schools, but no more quarantine classes

Suspicious cases from the Bridal Society neighborhood also had to be separated from various schools. District captain Stefan Grusch denies rumors of an entire gym class in Gmünder being quarantined: “A class with a suspected case should be taught in the largest room this week so that everyone can sit individually. Students and teachers are strictly required to wear a mask ”. Anyway, the student in question had been home for several days.

The class was reportedly left empty on September 22: All students are said to have been excused from their parents for class to protect others. Alfred Grünstäudl, Head of Education Region I, cannot comment on this to NÖN.

In kindergartens and schools, according to Grusch, all children of alleged guests at the wedding celebration should be kept out of classes from September 22. “As a pure precaution it was discussed with the doctors of the epidemic – without prior notice and without a request for quarantine,” he emphasizes.

Positive news from the Gmünder school center

In relation to schools, there is also positive news in the district: the first quarantine class in the Gmünder school center can return to classroom teaching after a student has tested positive, according to the authorities, there were no cases follow-up neither with students nor with teachers.
