As always, Hermesvillapark is open every day from 8 am to 5 pm
Vienna (OTS) – From All Saints’ Day until Christmas Eve, the Lainzer Tiergarten, with the exception of Hermesvillapark, is usually closed every year to ensure that wild animals get enough rest during the cold season. Extensive tree protection measures must also be carried out each winter in the 2,450 hectare recreation area. During this period, the Hermesvillapark remains open for those seeking relaxation. But many things are different this year, even in the Lainzer Tiergarten.
As the Viennese are affected by the restrictions of the Crown crisis this year and the opportunities to leave are severely restricted, the forestry and agricultural company of the city of Vienna has decided to close all the doors of the Lainzer Tiergarten (as in the Christmas Holidays) during the time of current restrictions. Open on weekends from Friday to Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm – “Starting next weekend, starting Friday 13 November. I am pleased to be able to offer Viennese additional recreational use for this expendable time of lockdown with the extended opening of the Lainzer Tiergarten”says Andreas Januskovecz, Vienna’s forest manager. The Hermesvillapark is open every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as every year, throughout the year. Access is possible via the Lainzer Tor and the St. Veiter Tor.
From Monday to Thursday, the recreation area is closed in the winter season, in order to give the wild animals as much rest as possible in the cold and exhausting season and to carry out the necessary tree protection measures. Visitors are kindly requested to wear suitable footwear when going for a walk. There is no winter service at the Lainzer Tiergarten.
During the Christmas holidays, from December 24 to January 6, 2021, the Lainzer Tiergarten is open every day from 8 am to 5 pm The Lainzer Tor, St. Veiter Tor, Nikolaitor and Gütenbachtor are open during the Christmas holidays .
All other parks and recreational areas in the city of Vienna are open all year round and allow the Viennese to spend hours relaxing in the open air.
