In the west, temperatures also drop towards freezing in the valleys. Climate experts expect heavy snowfall in several regions.
At the beginning of the week, Central Europe is under the influence of an extensive bass called “Lucy”. While the cold front on the downside already extends west on the national holiday, it will be temporarily sunny in the eastern half due to the foehn. On Tuesday, however, the cold front will also reach the east and southeast. The forecast in detail:
A.M Monday The sun occasionally shines east of Kaiserwinkl and Villach and generally remains dry, and the high fog on the eastern plains usually dissolves by noon. From the mountainous region of Styria to Burgenland, strong south-south-west winds cool and temperatures peak at 6 to 20 degrees from west to southeast.
In the west, on the other hand, compact clouds are gathering, and in the morning rain falls in Vorarlberg and Ausserfern, the snowfall line here gradually reduces to 1300 to 1000 m:
On the southern side of the Alps, experts from the Austrian Severe Weather Center UWZ expect heavy rains, which regionally also turn into snowfall. In parts of Vorarlberg, Tirol, Salzburg, and Carinthia, the red warning level (severe storm) was issued. In many other districts, advisories are also issued about the effects of abnormal weather.
