In the team of Austrian soccer champions Red Bull Salzburg, at least six players are infected with the corona virus, all of them players from national teams.
A crown test evaluated on Friday for the Bundesliga game against Rapid Vienna had given the entire FC Red Bull Salzburg team a negative result.
Another test, which was only mandatory for the team’s players called up from this week, the result of which was communicated to the club on Sunday night, showed a makeover. This additional test for this group gave six positive results.
The affected players currently have no symptoms and have already entered quarantine. The rest of the team is in team quarantine and is only allowed to travel between their home, training, or match venue. Also, all national teams were canceled for the time being.
Third series of tests on Monday
In order to get to the bottom of the different test results in such a short time and to obtain the greatest possible clarity on the degree of infection of the players, a third round of PCR tests is being carried out on the entire team today. This may result in possible changes in the procedure, which, however, will ultimately be made by the authorities.
ÖFB team boss Franco Foda had nominated goalkeeper Cican Stankovic and defenders Andreas Ulmer and Albert Vallci for the Austrian team for upcoming international matches.
The current situation in Salzburg affects not only national footballers, but also various legionaries such as Dominik Szoboszlai. The young “Bulls” star should have played the European Championship qualifier against Iceland with Hungary on Thursday in Budapest. Sékou Koïta and Mohamed Camara (both from Mali) are in the call for their national team for the Africa Cup qualifying game against Namibia scheduled for Friday. They too had to cancel their equipment.
