Red Bull Salzburg scored a major away win against WSG Tirol thanks to two late goals from Patson Daka and Sekou Koita in the battle for the top of the table. With a 4-2 away win against the brave Tyrolese, the Bulls extend their lead over Rapid to three points. WSG Tirol is still fifth in the table.
Koch leads WSG with dream goal: Salzburg fights back
The policemen controlled the game from the first minute and immediately put the Tyrolese in trouble. However, the first goal of the game was scored by Kristallkicker. And this was tough: Vallci headed out of the danger area after a WSG corner and served the ball to Fabian Koch, who shot from distance with a drop kick and sank the ball into the goal through the inside crossbar – 1-0 ( 10th).
Meanwhile, the hosts were in good shape and presenting problems to the Bulls: Frederiksen saw that Stankovic was too far ahead of his goal. His brazen attempt missed the gate (14th). As the first half continued, the Bulls picked up the pace.
This resulted in the Patson Daka 1: 1 EQ. After Adeyemi missed a high pass from Vallci, the Zambian ran in the middle, circled Oswald and scored on the empty goal – 1: 1 (31). Shortly before the break, the Bulls had a chance to make it 2-1, but Sucic thwarted the good chance.
The Austrian series champion decides the match late
The second 45 minutes were quite even, because the Tyrolese continued to act with great courage. The Bulls still had the first chance at halftime: Daka shot behind Sucic, but his volley went over the bar (47th). On the other hand, a distant shot from Petsos narrowly missed (54º).
In just over an hour he turned dangerous after a bad pass from Vallci, but Stankovic managed to defuse Baden Frederiksen’s long shot (61.). Ten minutes later Ulmer crossed to the center, where Oswald was able to avoid impact twice. Both times the leather came from her own husband at the door.
However, the goal fell the other way: referee Ciochirca gave the Tyrolese a penalty after Ramalho hit Baden Fredriksen. The Dane competed himself and converted with kinks and breaks – 2: 1 (78th). Wattener’s acclaimed lead only lasted a few seconds, because on the other side Berisha dusted from a few meters after a roar in the penalty area – 2: 2 (79th).
The happy ending for the Tyrolese did not materialize, because Salzburg made it all clear late: First, Daka tied the double pack from close range, before substitute Sekou Koita could run alone to Oswald after a bad pass from Soares, he surrounded him and he did 2: 4 (90.).
