Obviously, raw data was sent with incorrect information. This was strongly criticized by the Vienna City Council and the Lower Austrian state health official, Ulrike Knigsberger-Ludwig (SP).
So far there have been 63,134 positive results in Austria. Across the country, 890 people died as a result of the coronavirus, 48,771 have recovered. Thus, there were a total of 13,473 current cases with a virus detected on Saturday. On Saturday, 734 people were in hospital treatment due to SARS-CoV-2, of which 133 were in intensive care units.
The official dispatch of the ministries took place later than usual on Saturday. The reason given was “technical problems in data collection in Vienna”.
Incorrect data published
The extraordinarily high number of infections previously reported by some media – especially in relation to Vienna – caused discontent in the city hall of the federal capital. Even if you look at the raw data with double entries, you won’t get the number that is rumored, a spokesman for Health Councilor Peter Hacker (SP) emphasized to the APA. There was only speculation in the city council about who transmitted the data, but no one wanted to comment. The hacker’s spokesman complained via Twitter that they “simply lied to” journalists. “It’s bad style,” he criticized. At the time the numbers were distributed, Vienna had not yet reported any data to a federal agency, the spokesperson said.
Discontent also in Lower Austria: state medical personnel reported 225 new infections on Saturday, 411 were specified in the leaked raw data. The extreme difference in the representation of the numbers is “an annoyance that contributes to the uncertainty of the population,” the Knigsberger-Ludwig spokesman told the APA.
Most of the new infections since Friday in Lower Austria would be divided into smaller groups in families, according to the state health office. 31 new cases are related to the school system. There were also new infections in three groups in nursing homes. In Wiener Neustadt, the magistrate and police broke up an unregistered wedding party with around 120 guests on Friday evening, police confirmed Saturday.
The curfew is under control
Interior Minister Karl Nehammer (VP) announced the continuation of Austrian-wide controls on the Crown curfew over the weekend in the restaurant sector. On Saturday night, 41 reports were filed in 3,107 pub and event venue inspections. 973 police officers and six employees of the district’s administrative authorities were on duty. Two key actions were carried out in cooperation with the health authorities.
Tighter measures have been taken in the state of Salzburg since midnight to curb the spread of the corona virus. A quarantine is applied to the commercial city of Kuchl in Tennengau until November 1, the access roads to the city are controlled by the police. Hotels and restaurants remain closed, shops can remain open. Only key workers can come and go.
