As of Friday, 9.30am, 2,571 new corona infections were reported in Austria within 24 hours. There are currently 18,266 actively infected people across the country. The Interior Ministry reported.
So far, 74,415 positive results have been obtained in Austria. 954 people died with or from SARS-CoV-2, 55,195 have recovered. On Friday, 1,058 people were in hospital treatment for Covid-19, 158 of them in intensive care units.
90th death in Upper Austria
The state of Upper Austria reported a peak number of new infections at 12 noon: a total of 615 positive tests have been recorded in the state since the previous day. There are currently 2,877 active corona cases. At the same time, 3,242 people were tested on Thursday, an earlier high, as the crisis team announced in a broadcast.
The number of hospital patients continued to increase and already exceeded 200: according to the Land, 190 people were treated in normal wards and 21 in intensive care units. A 90-year-old man died at the Grieskirchen Clinic and it is the 90th death in the state.
