Capacities for the corona rapid tests are being expanded in Salzburg.

Testing capabilities will be increased again

After test capacities have already more than doubled in a few hours today, the Red Cross increases the number of processing capacities once again from 21 to 38 test lanes overnight. The Eugendorf, Europark and Mittersill locations will be significantly expanded. The test station at Europark will be expanded to ten lanes tonight. In Zell am See, the entire station was moved to Kongresshaus and also tripled.

Extension test starting Tuesday:

  • Eugendorf multipurpose hall: 2 in 9 lanes
  • Europark Salzburg: 4 on 10 slopes
  • Zell am See: By moving to the convention center from currently 2 to 6 test tracks
  • Mittersill: 2 on 4 tracks
  • Hallein: 2 slopes
  • Tamsweg: 2 lanes
  • Sankt Johann: 2 tracks
  • Schwarzach: 2 tracks
  • Radstadt: 1 spur

Rapid tests performed by general practitioners

Starting Wednesday, general practitioners will also offer rapid tests during these trial days. The country also funds these blood tests. The list of participating practices will be published on Tuesday.

Be aware of waiting times

“The Red Cross mobilized and organized everything that was possible over the weekend in such a short time. After the federal ordinance on mandatory testing for nursing home visits was known on Friday morning,” he said Franz Wieser, Salzburg state press spokesman in a broadcast. “It is important that waiting times are taken into account and especially if the test result is negative, always keep in mind that it is a snapshot,” Wieser said.

Number of people willing to take the test underestimated

Apparently, the number of people who wanted to be tested before the Christmas reunion with their families was underestimated. Especially at the test station in the parking lot of the Taxham S-Bahn station in Europark, the waiting time should have been several hours, according to the participants. The four test roads weren’t enough. But there was also a delay at the test station in Hallein.

Estimating demand is difficult

Beforehand, it was difficult to estimate how many people would come, Wieser told the APA. The Red Cross was prepared for more demand. That is why they were able to react quickly and establish additional test roads. Anyone who has tested negative for the virus should not feel safe, because there is still a risk of infection. Therefore, one should be careful and avoid social contacts as much as possible and maintain crown measurements, such as keeping distance and wearing a protective mask.

Corona tests before Christmas

At the end of the previous week, the country announced that it would offer free tests in cooperation with the Red Cross from 9 am to 6 pm from December 21 to December 23 and from 9 am to 1 pm from December 24 to December 26. Districts will offer. In this way, the population can be certain about their own corona status and protect friends and family from infection during the Christmas holidays. Participants must bring their identification and electronic card to the test; they will receive the test result by SMS.
