In the future, there will be “increased control pressure and longer patrol intervals” at places where there were queues in the past, according to police. Violations of regulations to contain the pandemic would face severe penalties.
Over 3000 ads so far
Since 17 November, that is, since the beginning of the second confinement, more than 3,000 reports and 1,000 organ fines have been filed in Austria. “We, as the security authority, ask the Viennese population to do their part to combat the pandemic and to comply with the applicable protection measures,” says Gerhard Pürstl, head of the Vienna State Police.
On Sunday night alone, opponents of Corona’s measures at the rally entitled “Lichtermarsch für den Frieden” (Light March for Peace) reported two complaints for ignoring the mask requirement. Some time ago there were also numerous fines at a well-known 1st district grocery store.
