The new COVID-19 Emergency Measures Ordinance brings stricter measures into the everyday life of Austrians, in addition to the measures already in place.

Distance and mouth and nose protection
The obligation to maintain a minimum distance of one meter from people who do not live in the same address continues to apply, as well as the obligation to wear oral and nasal protection inside public places.
Mass transportation and car sharing
In public transport and associated metro stations, platforms, stops, train stations and airports, people who do not live in the same household must stay at least one meter apart and must wear mouth and nose protection. If due to the number of passengers and at the time of boarding and disembarking it is not possible to maintain a distance of at least one meter, an exception can be made.
In motor vehicles (private car, taxi, Uber) a maximum of two people can be transported per row of seats (exception: shared home). Mouth and nose protection should also be worn.
Cable cars, gondolas and lifts are closed for leisure reasons.
Shops, commerce and services
Entering and driving in the customer area of commercial and service companies, including leisure facilities (including theaters, concert halls, cinemas, museums, baths, dance schools, casinos, fairgrounds, etc.) is prohibited. In addition, customer areas can be visited by non-body service companies (car workshops, insurance companies, dry cleaners, tailors, etc.). Businesses offering body hugging services (for example, hair salons, nail salons, piercing studios, massage studios, exception: medical purposes) remain closed.

Gastronomy, accommodation, events and sports
The catering establishments will remain closed. This does not apply to hospitals and spas, facilities for the elderly, facilities for care and disability, facilities for the care and accommodation of children and young people, and company canteens exclusively for employees. It is still possible to collect food and beverages between 6 am and 7 pm Food and beverages cannot be consumed within 50 meters of the commercial premises. As before, the delivery service is possible 24 hours. Accommodation establishments must remain closed for tourist reasons.
The events are still banned. Exceptions are, for example, funerals with a maximum of 50 people, professional meetings that cannot be postponed, meetings of the supervisory board, general assemblies, works council meetings, meetings for the purposes of essential professional training and higher education and conducting of professional final exams that require assistance and are not digitally possible.
Amateur athletes are prohibited from accessing sports facilities for the purpose of playing sports. Higher sport is excluded from this. Individual outdoor sports are still possible.
Kindergarten, school and university are not covered by the scope of the new regulation.
