There is movement and more competition in the sector from private providers of PCR and antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2 or Covid-19 in Vorarlberg. Because the occupational medicine company AMZ Arbeitsmedizinisches Zentrum für Industrie, Handel & Gewerbe GmbH from Fischamend (Lower Austria) opened a test station with its own laboratory a few days ago in the industrial zone of Röthis (industrial zone 6). The company has been operating two similar test stations in the Vienna metropolitan area for some time. Röthis is the number three test site and can be used by anyone without giving reasons and without medical or official reference.

Thomas Eggenburg, AMZ project coordinator for the new Covid-19 test station in Röthis, explained in a wpa conversation that they want to make a significant contribution to carry out antigen testing and PCR even faster and easier for the public. usually. The test station is open every day from 7 am to 7 pm, that is, all week and also on Sundays and holidays. A total of around 20 specially trained employees and medical-technical staff work for AMZ at the Röthis location. You take the samples and evaluate the results in the on-site laboratory.

PCR test result in twelve hours

“This means that we can deliver PCR test results in up to twelve hours, including on weekends and holidays,” Eggenburg said. With antigen testing, the result is available in 15 minutes. With the exception of testing, the entire process is carried out without contact in the drive-in. It is not necessary to make an appointment, but an online form must be completed beforehand. In the event of a positive test result, the health authorities will be informed. The cost of the PCR test is 120 euros, including the medical report in German and English. An antigen test costs 45 euros.

Soon up to 500 PCR tests per day

The Röthis location was chosen because it is easily accessible for corporate clients in Vorarlberg. Because AMZ has been working closely with companies relevant to infrastructure for years. “In doing so, we have gained experience of what companies really need now: fast and accessible testing options without bureaucracy for employees that deliver a quick result.” Currently, Röthis can run up to 100 tests per day, and there will soon be 300. Since Christmas, Eggenburg wants to increase the testing capacity to 500 PCR tests per day. “The bottleneck is reagents and even pipette tips that are out of stock across Europe.”

PCR gargle tests for tourism businesses

At the same time, AMZ also wants to offer easy-to-use PCR gargle tests for Vorarlberg companies in the tourism industry in the near future, allowing rapid evaluation of many tests. The cost would be 20 euros per test and person. “In this way, hotels, for example, can assure their guests that the workforce is regularly assessed using a PCR test and that they can feel safe.”

350 records in two hours

Although AMZ is particularly geared towards support companies, the test station in Röthis can also be used by individuals without any restrictions, emphasizes Eggenburg. Especially PCR tests are a must for authorities or the upcoming Christmas holidays, for example if you want to travel abroad. The records after the first online publication of the registration form for Röthis would show that the offer will be accepted by individuals with certainty: “We had 350 bookings in two hours,” Eggenburg said.
