Thousands of car fans are creating a state of emergency at the unofficial GTI gathering around Faaker See. Now the police are taking action!
How “Today” reported, dramatic scenes take place at the GTI meeting in Carinthia. Almost 3,000 car fans have been at full blast since Thursday and are celebrating late into the night. Especially in popular hotspots like Pyramidenkogel, there is a great rush and a state of emergency. The established security measures are irrelevant to most people and are ignored.
Thousands of tuning enthusiasts also gathered in the “Arneitz car park” and let the tires of their upgraded vehicles smoke properly. Now the police have pulled the tightrope and the consequences. According to “5 minutes”, the hotspot was blocked, until April 15! The reason for the blockade is the massive rush and complaints from several neighbors.
“The hotspots are being relocated”
Some vehicles are still in the parking lot, but they will also have to leave the site soon. “It is a private car park, the operators have decided to block it”, explains Bernd Riepan, Villach-Land District Captain, about “5 minutes”.
It is currently unknown how things will continue at the other hotspots around Faaker and Wörthersee. “Such measures will not solve the real problem, because the critical points will be relocated,” continues Riepan.
