Viennese police cleared the Extinction Rebellion camp at Michaelerplatz in Vienna on Tuesday morning. The group has been demonstrating there for climate protection since Sunday.

Since Sunday morning, some activists from the Extinction Rebellion (XR) movement have been blocking Michaelerplatz in the center of Vienna with tents and banners.

The tent camp was evacuated Tuesday morning. During the official ceremony, the identities of all the people present were established. As the identity of three people could not be determined, they were provisionally detained.

Everything would be reported according to the camping ordinance, there could be fines of a maximum of 700 euros. There were no incidents during the eviction. As the shelters, which had been camped in the middle of the city center since Sunday, disappeared, several activists remained in place, speeches and chants resumed.
