In the Flachgau and Braunau districts, remains of dead deer were found, some with bullets. Animals also always disappear there. The police are requesting information from the population.
The investigation is currently ongoing for “interference with foreign hunting and fishing rights.” The latest case at the moment concerns a pregnant and dead roe deer, which a hunter discovered on the afternoon of May 3, 2020 in an Au on St. Georgen in Flachgau, Salzburg, near a sewage treatment plant in the border area of the Braunau district. The animal had at least one bullet from a small-caliber bullet, as reported by the Salzburg State Police Directorate on Friday.
Very similar crime pattern
Dead deer have already been found in St. Georgen and also in Bürmoos in Flachgau. Crime patterns are very similar to several cases in the Upper Austrian district of Braunau. The police listed two cases in San Pantaleón in 2018, three in Oberfranking and one in Eggelsberg in summer and fall of 2019. Similar cases occurred in Kirchberg, Auerbach and Pischelsdorf in 2018 and 2019.
Gunshots were heard several times, “however, no roe deer were found,” police said. According to the responsible hunters, the animals would always disappear in the area of the previous crime scenes. A small-caliber projectile was secured from a roe deer.
Shot from a car?
The game is supposed to fire from a vehicle. The perpetrator or perpetrators must be well informed about the wagons, remains of animals removed by experts were also discovered.
The police request information about suspicious perceptions in the affected areas from the Lamprechtshausen Police Department at 059 133 5118 or at any other police station. These are clues about suspicious vehicles and their license plates, private individuals offering fresh game meat for sale, people with long or small-caliber weapons, as well as people with dead wild animals and bullets.
