A possible extension of the tram from Vienna to Lower Austria will be examined in the spring of next year. The best solutions for travelers across national borders are in demand, stressed on Friday the Mobility Councilor Ludwig Schleritzko (ÖVP). On this he agreed with the Vienna public transport councilor, Ulli Sima (SPÖ).
Schleritzko stated that he was open to suggestions about a possible extension of the tram lines, according to a broadcast in which he also described an expansion of the railway in the Vienna area and in Vienna itself as urgently needed. A new Simmering-Schwechat tram line, a connection to Groß-Enzersdorf and a Kaltenleutgab connection in the Eastern Planning Community (PGO) would be specifically examined.
According to the broadcast, initial estimates at the expert level speak of almost 400 million euros for structural execution. In addition, there are annual order costs for the transport service of around 40 million euros.
