“Research has long outpaced existing capabilities. Therefore, we have presented a concept for the expansion of the location, which has now been valued positively by the city and the country.

The dormitory for people with disabilities will have two additional floors of light construction. 28 additional partially supervised positions will be created. The costs are around 2.1 million euros and the city and the countryside are driving the expansion. The city also assumes responsibility for the loan. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2021. I am pleased that we can now lay the foundation for the next milestone, ”said Councilor Dietmar Fenz. Their goal: “To continue offering optimal and even more comprehensive support options on the site. True to the motto: Live disabled, live carefully. “

Support in daily life and integration

Since 2005, the disabled dormitory at Maria-Sturm-Gasse offers space for four groups of seven to nine residents each. It currently houses people with mental and multiple disabilities who are cared for during the day in a nursery, including nursery. The life group supervisors, who are located in separate areas, support people in their daily lives, give instructions and take on tasks. They support integration into the community and promote independence. The goal is the transition to an outpatient assisted lifestyle.

“St. With GW, the nursery and the DomiZiel residential project, Pölten has been offering a wide range of care and activities for people with disabilities for many years. The new partially supervised places reinforce the existing offer,” says Mayor Matthias Stadler cheerfully. After the state’s green light, relevant resolutions will soon be presented to the local council.
