On Sunday a fire broke out in the single-family house on the Grabenbäckweg. As the fire threatened to spread to two adjacent buildings, alarm level 3 was activated.
Five fire departments in a house fire
Five fire brigades have been deployed, in addition to Piesendorf, Kaprun, Niedernsill, Zell am See and Saalfelden. Meanwhile, more than 100 emergency services with 20 vehicles were at the scene.
It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading during the large-scale operation. With the help of a crane vehicle and the revolving ladder, the roof of the house was opened and parts of the wooden roof structure had to be removed, as described by the Piesendorf fire brigade commander, Michael Unterberger, in a interview with SALZBURG24.
No wounded in the fire
Fortunately, the fire did not cause injuries. Unterberger reported that the Piesendorf community arranged replacement accommodation for the seven residents of the fire station. To date, nothing is known about the cause of the fire.
