The details of Corona’s third phase of short-time work have been set by social partners, the Labor Ministry confirmed according to media reports. Phase III runs from October to March 2021. The minimum working time will be increased from 10 to 30 percent and the implementation obstacles will increase.
In the future, companies, as long as they send at least six employees on short-time work, must present a written justification that takes into account the development of sales and includes a business forecast. The plausibility of the data must be confirmed by a tax advisor.
Corona reduced-time work: employees must accept additional training, if offered
If the employer offers additional job-related training, the employee must accept it. The AMS takes over a large part of the funding for continuing education. Salary advances are reflected in higher wages in the short term, as Anna Daimler of the Life services union told the “Standard” (Wednesday edition).
Of course, a company can also request shorter working hours than from October to March, added the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Labor to the APA. “Of course, you can stop working sooner if there is no longer any financial need to do so.”
Almost 389,000 people currently work part-time. Corona’s short-term work has cost the state 4.7 billion euros so far.
