The ÖVP apparently relies entirely on the immigration issue in the Vienna elections. “The culture of misunderstood hospitality must come to an end in Vienna,” explains leading candidate Gernot Blümel about the People’s Party’s electoral manifesto and demands, for example, adequate knowledge of German to get a community apartment.
Blümel’s further wishes include the anchoring of German as a national language in the city’s constitution, as well as the closure of the Ernst-Kirchweger-Haus, for the head of the Vienna ÖVP, a group of left-wing extremist associations. Instead, the Grätzl in Vienna-Favoriten will be updated by “specific urban planning”.
These bills before the APA, which were also presented in the Sunday edition of the “Kronen Zeitung”, are called by Blümel as “a center-right politics with decency and common sense.”
