The number of new infections in Austria has increased dramatically in the last 24 hours. More than 8,400 new cases have been reported.
Noisy “Today”-Infos, there has been another sharp increase in new infections. A total of 8,421 new cases and 37 deaths were confirmed in the last 24 hours. This set a new negative record: there have never been so many new infections in the country.
Health Minister Rudolf Anschober already stated in the Ö1-Journal on Saturday afternoon that one would think of stricter corona measures in Austria if the number of steeply increasing infections does not decrease. These could be “readjusted” next week.

According to the Interior Ministry, there have been 147,220 positive test results in Austria so far. As of 9:30 a.m., 1,377 people in Austria had died as a result of the virus and 88,273 had recovered. There are currently 3,006 people undergoing hospital treatment for the corona virus and 432 of them are in intensive care units.
Problems with lab messages
The 790 new cases in Salzburg are internal state surveys, due to massive problems with laboratory reports at EMS. The test numbers could not be collected in their entirety for the same reason. In Burgenland, the current number of intensive care beds was corrected on Friday.
