In Austria, 621 new cases of corona were reported in 24 hours. So now there are more than 8,000 active diseases.
The number of people actively infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Austria surpassed the 8,000 mark on Sunday. According to the Ministry of the Interior and Health, 8,100 people were actively infected at 9:30 a.m.
621 new infections were added in 24 hours; there were 813 on Saturday. However, fewer tests are done on the weekend. The number of hospitalized patients is decreasing.
Fewer intensive care patients in hospitals
If more than 18,000 tests were entered into the Resident Epidemiological Registry (EMS) on Saturday, about 12,500 were added on Sunday, significantly fewer than in recent days. On average, over the past seven days, the number of new infections per day was 705.
While 349 people had to be treated in hospitals in Austria on Saturday, on Sunday it was 341. The number of Covid-19 cases treated in intensive care units also dropped significantly: it dropped from 84 people on Saturday to 68 on Sunday.
Most new corona infections in Vienna again
766 people have died as a result of the corona virus since the pandemic outbreak, one more death compared to Saturday. A total of 38,095 people have tested positive so far.
When it comes to new infections, the highest number of 319 were registered again in the federal capital on Sunday. There were 94 additional cases in 24 hours in Lower Austria, 62 in Tyrol and 49 in Upper Austria. Vorarlberg registered 38 new infections in the Epidemiological Registry Registry (EMS), Salzburg 21 and Styria 13. In Carinthia eight additional people infected with Covid-19 were registered.
