At 9:30 am, the Interior Ministry reported that 2,737 people were in hospital treatment for the coronavirus, 407 of them in intensive care units. For the first time there are also more than 50,000 actively infected.
This is the result of a total of 132,515 positive test results since the pandemic outbreak in Austria and the 1,268 people who died as a result of the coronavirus and the 80,604 people who have recovered. Lower and Upper Austria and Vienna reported new infections in the four-digit range.
In Vienna today, for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 1000 new infections have occurred: specifically, 1231 positive test results were reported, the city’s medical crisis team announced in a broadcast (a starting at 8 am). In addition, since yesterday Wednesday, eight people have died from the aftermath or from a coronavirus infection. The deceased are five women between 77 and 95 years old and three men, all in their eighties. This means that there are now 368 deaths related to Covid-19 in the federal capital.

Yesterday, Wednesday, 6,401 tests were carried out. In the federal capital, a total of 658,377 tests have been carried out since the start of the pandemic.
“Negative record” also in Lower Austria
In Lower Austria, 1,053 new corona infections were recorded on Thursday. This number also represents a “negative record” in the state, according to the office of Health Councilor Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig (SPÖ). There were 22,611 people in home quarantine. The day before it had been 22,841.
