In Vienna, 17,406 registrations were made for the free flu vaccination campaign during the first three days.

The office of Health Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ) announced this to the APA on Friday. Starting in October, Viennese can visit one of the seven vaccination centers, which have a total of 34 vaccination routes.

More than 15,000 registrations were made online

15,279 have registered online at “impfservice.wien”, 2,127 by phone via the 1450 hotline, it said. As assured in the hacker’s office, there is still enough capacity. Because 3,000 daily vaccinations are possible in participating institutions, it was emphasized. This means that up to 60,000 people per month could be vaccinated against seasonal influenza.

Doctors in private practice are also participating in the campaign. Mobile vaccination teams are sent directly to senior locations in care centers or medical personnel. Even a vaccination bim is used.

Great interest in free flu vaccination campaign in Vienna

“I am overwhelmed by the enormous interest shown by the Viennese population in getting vaccinated against the flu. I hope that this vaccine will continue and that the goal of vaccinating a quarter of Viennese can be achieved,” said Health Councilor Hacker. Vienna has around 400,000 doses of the vaccine, most of which were purchased this year.

The city recently named the elderly and chronically ill, medical personnel and children as target groups. For the latter, who transmit the virus with particular force, there is an alternative to the needle in the form of a nasal spray, which can be used from the age of two and will be available from mid-November.
