The four Austrian ski jumpers who tested positive for the corona virus before Sunday’s World Cup competition in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, are on their flight home. The arrival of Daniel Huber, Jan Hörl, Manuel Fettner and Thomas Lackner with a special machine should take place on Monday night, ÖSV announced. Mario Stecher was confident that the jumpers who had recovered in the meantime at home could participate in the Ski Flying World Championship.
Sporting director Stecher told the APA on Monday that crown tests with Gregor Schlierenzauer, Philipp Aschenwald and head coach Andreas Widhölzl had yielded negative results. The tests of possible substitutes for the World Ski Flying Championships in Planica, such as Clemens Aigner and Clemens Leitner, were also negative.
World record holders Stefan Kraft and Michael Hayböck, who like Schlierenzauer, Aschenwald and the coach had tested positive after competitions in Wisla, will not complete their tests until Tuesday or Wednesday, according to ÖSV.
Stecher said he was in a good mood for Planica now. “I think we will be well positioned,” said the Styrian. Of course, the final line-up will not be known until Wednesday. Candidates are said to have already completed training in the normal national hills of Seefeld and Ramsau. Stecher did not see the long break from training before the first climax of the season as a problem. Training and qualification are scheduled for Thursday at the giant Planica bank.
The ÖSV leadership with President Peter Schröcksnadel at the helm had campaigned for the return flight of paratroopers infected with the corona virus from Russia. The association said the flight was organized thanks to good cooperation with the authorities of both countries.

Markus Schiffner and Maximilian Steiner who tested negative had returned with a normal flight. Everyone must quarantine at home.
