As of today, Friday, 1,098 people are infected with the corona virus in Lower Austria. An average of 130 new infections were added every day this week. In nine districts of Lower Austria and in the statutory cities of Krems and Wiener Neustadt, the traffic light in Corona was “orange”. This is why Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, her Deputy Stephan Pernkopf (both ÖVP) and Health Councilor Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig (SPÖ) presented stricter measures for Lower Austria on Friday.

Federal measures apply until the yellow light. From “Orange” onwards, stricter regulations are prescribed in Lower Austria. The presence of the public is not allowed at sporting events. Family members are excluded from amateur events. The Bundesliga is also not affected by this measure, where spectators are still allowed.

Orange districts: sport without spectators

At other events, too, the number of visitors is extremely limited. Inside Orange, only 250 people can participate instead of the previous 1,500 in assigned seats. If the seats are not assigned, the number is reduced to ten. Outside there are 1,000 instead of 3,000 people in assigned spaces, 100 in unassigned spaces.

Guest registration in gastronomy

As in Vienna, mandatory guest lists for registration are now being introduced in “Orange” in Lower Austria. The curfew remains at 1 am “Only in the red districts the curfew is brought forward at 10 at night,” explains the governor.

Kindergartens, where operations will be carried out with greater safety precautions, are also affected by the new regulations. If it is “red”, children should only be sent to babysit when necessary. Mikl-Leitner also announced the corresponding measures in clinics and rehabilitation centers.

Clear regulation is needed to provide security for people, Mikl-Leitner said. “Everything possible must be done to control infections,” said the governor, who also announced strict controls on compliance with the measures by the federal government.

As before, when does the district change what color will be announced on Friday. The measures will take effect the following Monday.
