After the crown confusion surrounding the Red Bull Salzburg team players, the ÖFB decided not to bring the affected policemen with them to the test against Luxembourg despite negative tests and the lifting of the quarantine notice. Andi Ulmer and Co. are available for major Nations League matches.
As announced at a press conference on Tuesday, the quarantine decision for the Salzburg team’s players has been lifted. However, the trio of Andreas Ulmer, Cican Stankovic and Albert Vallci were unable to complete the additional test required by UEFA in time.
They will therefore not be available in the test against Luxembourg on Wednesday (8.30pm, live on ORF 1). Ulmer and Stankovic will join the team in Vienna on Wednesday and then prepare for the Nations League matches against Northern Ireland and Norway (Sunday / Wednesday 18 November).
Vallci, like Rapidler Max Ullmann, will remain on duty. The Salzburg defender would only be scheduled for the Luxembourg game. With Ullmann it was striking that there had been a positive billiard test at his club. Alessandro Schöpf also canceled due to a calf injury.
Philipp Wiesinger (LASK) and Jörg Siebenhandl (Sturm Graz) were nominated.
In total, the team boss, Franco Foda, had nominated 29 players for the international triple. It was planned from the beginning to pardon six of them against Luxembourg.
These are mainly players who have recently been widely used internationally, such as Bayern star David Alaba or Marcel Sabitzer of RB Leipzig. On the other hand, Valentino Lazaro, for example, should only be used in the event after his recent injury break, as well as Freiburg Legionnaire Philipp Lienhart. With the latter, the background is a requirement of the association in terms of quarantine after a trip abroad.
Eleven national teams from Salzburg
In addition to Ulmer, Stankovic and Maximilian Wöber (U21), eight other Salzburg players addressed their national teams. First of all, young star Dominik Szoboszlai, who will face the EM play-off against Iceland on Thursday with Hungary and the Nations League matches against Serbia (November 15) and Turkey (November 18).
Five players could play in the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations: Mohamed Camara and Sékou Koïta play with Mali against Namibia, Enock Mwepu with Zambia against Botswana, Majeed Ashimeru with Ghana against Sudan and Jérôme Onguéné with Cameroon against Mozambique (two games each ).
In addition, Mergim Berisha is on the Germany Under-21 team for a test match against Slovenia and a European Championship qualification match against Wales. Noah Okafor is in action for the Swiss Under-21 team in the European Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan and France.
