ÖFB Cup: Rapid and LASK are not naked

In Wiener Neustadt, former English legionnaire Ritzmaier took a free kick (32) and hit the ball at the Kreuzeck in the 70th minute. This gave him a lot of self-confidence for Thursday’s home game against Arsenal. Ritzmaier, who came on loan from Barnsley on Oct. 5, was in the starting lineup for his first Rapid appearance.

The first highlight came with Christoph Knasmüllner, who was recently in low demand and who took the lead (18th), but someone else. Four minutes later, a direct free kick from Elias Weidinger landed in the net on the other side, Matej Sabados could possibly have extended the ball with his head.

Dream debut for Ritzmaier

Marcel Ritzmaier celebrated a dream debut in Rapid-Dress at the ÖFB-Cup. The 27-year-old midfielder scored a double in Hütteldorfer’s 5-1 win in the Wiener Neustadt regional division.

The Viennese, who had almost the best lineup, did not fret about the draw and Ritzmaier returned his team to Siegerstrasse with a free kick that went over the wall exactly in the corner. Shortly before the break, Ercan Kara (45 + 1) headed in the third goal after a Schick corner kick from a difficult position. On Rapid’s fourth goal, Ritzmaier swung away from a nearly 20-meter turn and hit the corner with a powerful blow. The final point was established by Kelvin Arase (77th) after a pass from Ibrahimoglu.

LASK Newcomer Arrives Too, Goiginger Returns

LASK also went to the round of 16. Linz’s team beat third-division SV Wörgl 3-0 (1-0) and thus also held a victorious dress rehearsal before their appearance in the Europa League group stage in Tottenham next Thursday. Newcomer Johannes Eggestein scored the first goal of the night in his competitive debut in the athletic jersey.

Johannes Eggestein came, saw and scored for LASK in the Cup against Wörgl

The forward, on loan from Werder Bremen, pushed Thomas Goiginger’s cross pass over the line in the 29th minute. Eggestein’s attacking partner made a comeback after a month of injury rupture following a torn cruciate ligament. Goiginger left the field in the 55th minute, after which LASK coach Dominik Thalhammer brought in Marvin Potzmann, who had also been in custody for a long time after a torn cruciate ligament. The end came for Eggestein after an hour.

LASK is sure to get ahead

LASK safely passed into the second round. The Linz team beat third division SV Wörgl 3-0.

The success of the Linzers was deserved. After Marko Raguz hit the crossbar within minutes, the home side’s advantage was in the air. As more goals were lost, it was almost even more exciting in the second half. Wörgls Salko Mujanovic could not equalize against LASK goalkeeper Alexander Schlager (64th). Players and spectators experienced a moment of shock in the final phase when the visiting team’s Dino Bevab remained immobile after a collision. After a treatment, the worker was apparently taken from the field, conscious. Andreas Gruber (91st) and Peter Michorl (93rd) scored only the remaining goals in injury time.

Dominik Thalhammer was satisfied with the “proper” first half. However, the lead should have been extended earlier, the LASK coach said. “We cannot be completely satisfied with the performance in the middle of two. Here we were not as clean in positional play as we were at halftime and we did not follow our match plan consistently enough, ”Thalhammer said. However, it was a clear matter for his team: “We are one lap ahead and that is what counts in the cup.”

Altach celebrates victory

Altach did it with a 7-0 win against Regionalliga representative Seekirchen without any problems. Head coach Alex Pastoor was absent. The Dutchman traveled home on short notice for private reasons over the weekend and was represented by Kotrainer Martin Bernhard. In the first 35 minutes, Manfred Fischer (21st, 35th) met twice – including something to see from almost 20 meters below the crossbar – and Daniel Maderner (23rd) for the Vorarlberg team. After the change of sides, substitutes Chinedu Obasi (70th, 89th) and Aljaz Casar (82nd, 85th) made the mob party perfect. The only disappointment: defender Berkay Dabanli had to leave the field early with an ankle injury.

Victory for Altach

Altach did not miss anything in the second round of the ÖFB Cup against Salzburg’s regional league team Seekirchen. Vorarlberg won 7-0.

Second division Wacker Innsbruck also lived up to the role of favorites. The decision in the 1-0 home win against third division SV Stripfing / Weiden was only taken by Florian Jamnig with a penalty goal in the 87th minute. On Sunday, WAC, against league rivals Ried, he will also be the fourth holder of the European Cup. On Sunday the clubs will also meet their opponents in the round of 16, the draw will be broadcast on ORF1 from 5:05 pm.
