Vienna elections 2020: In Josefstadt, the elections to the district council of the Greens and the ÖVP were face to face. Now the district is green.
The Josefstadt district council was so narrow that even on Monday afternoon it was still unclear which party would “scratch” the district. Shortly before 10 pm, the news: After a ten-year break, Josefstadt will be green again. By extrapolation, the Greens won 31.1 percent of the vote in the district, the ÖVP was slightly defeated with 30.1 percent of the vote.
SPÖ reached 20.7% in Josefstadt, FPÖ 3.9%, NEOS 8.0%, HC team 1.1%, LINKS 3.0%, the beer festival at 2.0% and VOLT 0.2%. Participation in the district was 61.2%. Due to the electoral success of the Greens, the main candidate Martin Fabisch is now the new district head. “Josefstadt is going green! Congratulations to Martin Fabisch and the entire team of the Green Josefstadt for the first place in the district!” He congratulated the party on Twitter.
