The medals at the Nordic World Championships in Oberstdorf have found a place of honor among all the winners. After a ten-day break from competition, the combined athletes will head to the World Cup final in Klingenthal at the weekend. The program includes two individual competitions on Saturdays and Sundays (11.00 am / jump HS-140-Schanze and 2.45 pm. Cross-country skiing of 10 km, each live on ORF1).

Austria’s newly crowned two-time world champion Johannes Lamparter, who, along with Lukas Greiderer, won the team sprint in addition to individual gold, is particularly eager for the season’s return. “I recovered well and coped with everything that happened in Oberstdorf. It feels unbelievably cool. Slowly, but I’m realizing what happened, ”explained the 19-year-old Lamparter.

“The hill at Klingenthal suits me well. I want to have a little more fun, enjoy everything again, and put up with it. So I can certainly look back on a very cool season, ”said the Tyrolean.

Last highlight of a “very special” season

Klingenthal is the replacement location for Schonach, where competitions could not be held due to lack of snow. Above all, Greiderer has very good and fresh memories, because only six weeks ago a World Cup was held in Klingenthal. After Absamer Hill’s record went up, he made it to the third podium of his career. Like Lamparter, he is looking forward to the competitions.

“I really enjoy being at Klingenthal, the hill is really cool, it’s a great facility for all of us. The trail is challenging and enjoyable to run. After a successful World Cup, I would like to finish with a good job, ”said Greiderer.

Head coach Christoph Eugen hopes his team will perform well again after a “very special season” due to Corona and the successful World Cup. “Personally, I would like everyone to end the World Cup season with a good and positive feeling. For Lukas Greiderer and Johannes Lamparter it is still a nice extra in view of their successes in the World Cup. “

The aim of the two should be to further consolidate or improve their positions in the World Cup in general. A total of eight ÖSV athletes, including “bronze” Lukas Klapfer and Mario Seidl, will participate in the World Cup team competition with Lamparter and Greiderer.
