A special regulation for the Crown period has now been created for the Viennese Buschenschanken: this year they can open until the end of the year and every day, as announced by the office of the responsible councilor Ulli Sima (SPÖ).

Otherwise this is not the case. Under the Vienna Buschenschank Law, companies are normally only allowed to open from mid-April to the end of October, and only from Friday to Sunday or on holidays. Now they have responded to the request of small winegrowers, he said. Hospitality is allowed daily from May 15. And exceptionally, the Buschenschanken can also offer wine and local delicacies until the end of the year.

“Viennese wine, taverns and taverns have always shaped our city and the Viennese lifestyle. We want to support Viennese winemakers in these difficult times with this exception,” said Sima. The exemption applies until December 31, 2020, after which the original Buschenschank Law takes effect again.
