The ruling ÖVP and Green parties want to table a corresponding motion in parliament today. The index increase, which actually takes place every two years, will be postponed until 2022.
As recently as yesterday morning, the SPÖ had announced that it would file a motion to suspend the increase, which it had requested. “It is gratifying that the government is accepting the SP’s proposal,” SP leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner responded to the announcement. Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (VP) said they wanted to “avoid greater financial burdens, especially for families.”
The FPÖ wants to rise today in parliament “against the sale of tourism”, as announced by the club’s boss, Herbert Kickl. He asked for “some kind of protective screen” for national companies. For example, the FP app provides a right of first refusal for Austrian investors in the event of imminent sales of tourism businesses. In addition, Kickl again demanded an “unlock while there is still something to unlock.” That coincides with the rosy demands: the Neos also insisted once again on opening tourism “with controlled tests.”
