Nicolas Cage plays Joe Exotic

Following the success of the Netflix documentary series “Tiger King,” acting star Nicolas Cage will play former private food director Joe Exotic in a television film adaptation. The Oscar winner will also co-produce the series, as announced by his agent on Monday. According to industry magazine “Variety,” US broadcaster CBS and producer Image by Brian Grazer will be there. Eight episodes are planned.
“Tiger King” was released on Netflix in March and quickly became a huge hit with a cult character. The documentary series revolves around dazzling private zoo owner Joe Exotic, who is now in prison on a murder order and animal welfare rule violations. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the series has been viewed 34 million times in ten days.
Cage, 56, was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the 1990s. For his haunting portrayal of an alcoholic in “Leaving Las Vegas” he was awarded an Oscar for Best Actor in 1996. Other successful films include “With Air “,” The Rock – Rock of Decision “and” Face / Off – In the Enemy’s Body “.
