A new negative record was set on Saturday. In Austria, 1,747 new corona infections were recorded.

As of Saturday (9.30am) 1,747 new corona virus infections had been reported in Austria. This arises from the daily update of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health. This is significantly more than the day before (1,163) and beats Thursday’s previous record (1,552).

890 virus-related deaths

So far there have been 63,134 positive results in Austria. 890 people across the country have died as a result of the coronavirus, 48,771 have recovered. There were a total of 13,473 cases with a virus detected on Saturday. On Saturday, 734 people were in hospital treatment for SARS-CoV-2, of which 133 were in intensive care units.

Significantly higher figures circulated in the media.

On Saturday morning, some media reported significantly higher figures. According to the Vienna City Council, the data circulated even before Vienna reported to the federal agency. The official dispatch of the ministry took place later than usual on Saturday. The reason given was “technical problems in data collection in Vienna”.
