Shöpy.at, if you want, is the little brother of Shöpping.at and has only one focus: the starter products. Today, Sunday, young Graz-based businessman Christian Pittner is launching an online store with Shöpy exclusively for various devices from Austrian startups, because it is In the economic crisis, it is important that “purchases are made from regional companies and that taxes are paid in the country accordingly,” says young Grazer. “For the money to remain in our country, an online market must be created in which only products developed or manufactured in Austria are offered, ”he says.
And so he was able to convince a whole host of Austrian startups to list their products in his online store, at no charge, of course. Around 50 products are currently listed. The start includes:

“Not so many thoughts about a business model”
At Horus, which offers a privacy-focused smartphone case, Pittner is included. Currently there is no business model for your new project. “Listening is free. Given that the crisis currently affects many companies in Austria, I have not yet given much thought to a business model and have used the time to meet the needs of companies and also to support new companies, ”he says. “If the website is well received and a lot of products are sold, I imagine it would slowly introduce fees, but certainly not as high as Amazon and company.”
If you buy from Shöpy, the order is forwarded directly to the seller, as is the money paid. The startups then receive an order email with the delivery address and send it independently, which also means for Pittner that he doesn’t have to create a warehouse. The student is currently doing the project alone; she is studying industrial design at the FH Joanneum in Graz.

To make the new startup store attractive, some startups offer their products at a discount. “Sunnybag Iconic” is available for € 79 instead of € 99, the “Zeppy Speaker” for € 149 instead of € 199, or a Tractive Pet GPS Tracker for € 39 instead of € 49.
It will be important that Shöpy can transmit as many clients as possible to startups. “It will definitely be the hardest point,” says Pittner. “An important point is definitely the press work, so that many people and new companies can find out and also register, if they meet the criteria. Later, we want to establish ourselves in such a way that new companies no longer have to create their own stores, but register with us, because it is very difficult and expensive to get traffic to your own site as a startup. “
