The Robert Koch Institute reports 962 deaths in 24 hours in relation to the corona virus, a new record in Germany. A total of 27,968 deaths were recorded, according to the RKI on Wednesday. The previous high of 952 deaths was recorded last Wednesday at the start of the harsh lockdown. Another 24,740 people tested positive. That’s about 5,000 more than the day before and about 3,000 less than a week ago.
At that time there were late records from Saxony. The total number of detected infections amounts to more than 1,554 million and around 1,160 million people are considered to have recovered. The so-called seven-day incidence drops to 195.1 from 197.6 the last. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants tested positive in seven days. The federal and state governments are targeting a value of 50 to contain the virus.
