The Austrian team trembles for the group victory in the UEFA Nations League. At the Ernst Happel Stadium, the ÖFB team achieved a 1: 1 final against a mixed team from Norway.
The Norwegians struck for the first time after 45 seconds, but Jorgen Larsen couldn’t get past Wolfsburg’s legionnaire Pavao Pervan on his scooter. On the other hand, the returning starting eleven, Marko Arnautovic, loses the lead (20th).
About ten minutes later, “Arnie” is unlucky again when goalkeeper Per Braatveit drives a central hammer over the crossbar. After that, Austria’s offensive game dwindled more and more, making Norway bolder. Larsen (33.) and Sondre Tronstad (36.) each find their teacher in Pervan.
Marcel Sabitzer sets the starting signal for the second half with direct acceptance (46th), before Arnautovic tarnished ÖFB’s best chance over the bar (48th).
Although the Austrians are on the trigger, the bell rings on the other side. Former Rapidler Veton Berisha escapes from his guards and leans from the baseline on Zahid, who cannot be prevented by Martin Hinteregger or Andi Ulmer – 0: 1 (61st)!
The ÖFB team is slowly recovering from this shock. The closest to equalize is substitute Adrian Grbic, who receives a cross from Alaba from a few meters to the shin and shoots Braatveit (70º). In the fourth minute of injury time, the Super Joker improved it with a great low shot to the far corner: 1: 1!
The national team is the first to finish the UEFA Nations League group stage with 13 points. Norway (11 points) is in second place, followed by Romania (8) and Northern Ireland (2).
